I was flipping through my writing journal and found this. Thought I’d share it…
(Part I) Shadows play in my mind. They shadow some thought, some memory I left behind. After the light I have sought, but ne'er do I find it without uncovering some object. (Part II) Light casts shadows where objects are hid. Light reveals hindrances in its path. This is true in the mind as well as in the soul. Christ's glory illuminates our lives in order to shine upon the tombstones we cherish. Things to which we are dead but try to unearth. In a sense, all Christians are gravediggers. Our old self has already died to those things, yet we resurrect them in our minds or open our mansions to their bidding. Jesus put new ownership in the mansion of our minds, but we must first accept His governance. Free will not only means we can decide what to do but also what to let in.
As this verse tells us, fear is a spirit, not an emotion. It is not of God. Anything that you fear or anything that compels you to fear (AKA: lockdowns, etc.) is not of God. That is not to say He doesn’t use it. It just goes to say it is not of Him. We are to counter this spirit with the Holy Spirit, love, and a sound mind. All these things are of God.
If God’s revealing something that casts a shadow in your soul where there is darkness, give it to Him.
